DOGBREEDS
German shepherd
Versatile and hard-working dogs that can be used for «everything».
German Shepherds are friendly, loving dogs that are suitable as family dogs
German sheperd
We are friendly, loving, and fit as family dogs. As long as we get an outlet for our energy and are used in a constructive way, we are the perfect dog. But we must be used in order to thrive, do not forget that we are working dogs! Some argue that we are best suited for experienced dog owners because we require a lot of attention!
Thanks to our size and strength, we have no problem pulling a sled.
It is worth mentioning we have guarding instincts, so expect some skepticism towards strangers.

German shepherd dogs are owner-oriented and willing to cooperate
If you want an obedient dog, the German Shepherd can be something for you. We are owner-oriented dogs, with the potential to become loyal companions. Many Shepherd dogs are used as service dogs or rescue dogs.
Our strongest qualities are high intelligence, loyalty, pride, self-confidence, boldness, and desire to learn. We are fairly balanced dogs, as long as we are not provoked.
They require active owners
A German Shepherd is an active dog that needs a lot of physical activity. Originally we were shepherds, meaning we were bred to work and cooperate with humans. We want to work as much as possible, and as varied as possible.
It is important that you activate me on a mental level. Give us challenges, because we think it's fun!
If you prefer the couch and do not like to go for walks, we won't match.

Excellent watchdog
If you are primarily looking for a silent dog, you should consider another breed. German Shepherds bark a lot, especially when detecting something abnormal, such as strangers in your driveway. This makes us excellent watchdogs.
It is possible to reduce barking with the right training, but it is important to start from an early age. You have to expect some barking as we were originally bred as shepherd dogs. To us, our voice is an important tool.
Relationships with other animals
We get along well with other dogs, but early socialization is extremely important.
Most German Shepherds work well with other dogs, but some may show aggressive tendencies. On a general basis, a German Shepherd will not be aggressive unless provoked.
The disadvantage of being popular
The German Shepherd's popularity has unfortunately led to health problems as a result of selfish breeders.
Have a long and good chat with potential breeders to map the health of the puppy's parents. To get a good impression of the dog's health, it pays to look at the entire family tree.
Common health challenges that afflict us include hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, pancreatic failure, "German Shepherd's Eye", testicular deficiency, allergies, and intestinal problems. Also, note that we can get wet eczema if the coat remains wet after bathing or swimming.
Speaking of fur: ours require little care and we must only bathe when needed. It takes a lot to brush the coat regularly.
